After being named ACC Player of the Week Monday, Wake Forest guard Tyree Appleby earned further distinction Tuesday as the Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week, voted upon by the United States Basketball Writers Association.

This is just Wake Forest's second National Player of the Week honor since its inception in 2009. Alondes Williams won the award last season.

Appleby posted clutch performances in Wake Forest's wins over North Carolina and Georgia Tech, averaging 25.5 points, 8.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds over the two-game span.

His performance against UNC was one for the history books -- he broke the all-time ACC records for free throws made (23) and attempted (28) in a single game en route to a 35-point performance.

Against Georgia Tech, Appleby sealed the game for the Deacs, making two clutch free throws with 2.3 seconds remaining and giving the team a one-point lead.

The Deacs return to action Saturday on the road against Miami at 2pm ET on RSN.
