Watch: Houston dunk causes technical delay
Houston senior forward J'Wan Roberts' emphatic dunk against Texas was the only respite for the Longhorns on Saturday.
In an 82-61 loss, Roberts' dunk caused a delay in the game by jarring a camera on top of the backboard loose.
The delay was the only time Texas wasn't smacked around on Saturday. The 21-point margin of victory for Houston was its largest against Texas in 41 years.
Houston (22-3) is a projected 1 seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, while Texas (16-9) sits as an 8 seed, although it must string together wins to solidify its standing.
The Longhorns are ninth in the 14-team Big 12 and have road games remaining against Associated Press No. 6 Kansas (19-6) and No. 12 Baylor (18-6), along with a season finale at home against No. 25 Oklahoma (18-7).
Even if Texas manages to make the NCAA Tournament, it doesn't appear to be a team capable of winning the Big 12 Tournament and reaching the Elite Eight like last season. Just as with Saturday's technical stoppage, reaching March Madness will only delay the inevitable.
