Watch: Wild brawl at handshake line caps Southland Conference basketball game

Texas A&M-Commerce and Incarnate Word have had seasons to forget, but on Monday, they made sure they'd be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

After a 76-72 Texas A&M-Commerce win, the teams were in an ugly brawl involving multiple players and team officials.

Punches were thrown, people were tackled to the ground and others needed to be held back to avoid making matters worse than they already were.

The embarrassing display is fitting for a pair of Southland Conference cellar-dwellers.

Texas A&M Commerce (10-17, 4-9 in Southland) and Incarnate Word (8-18, 3-10 in Southland) rank in the bottom three of the conference. Of 362 Division I programs, The Texas A&M-Commerce Lions rank 320th and the Incarnate Word Cardinals rank 337th in ESPN's Basketball Power Index.

Both programs are relatively new to DI basketball. The Cardinals are the elder statesmen of the two, leaping to DII in 2013, while the Lions are in only their second season as a DI program.
