James Okonkwo is one of two West Virginia big men currently in the transfer portal who is still considering a return to the program.

The 6'8", 240-pound junior has appeared in 34 career games for the Mountaineers, averaging 2.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks per contest.

With Syracuse transfer Jesse Edwards announcing his decision to remain at WVU, it means both Okonkwo and Mohamed Wague would be vying for minutes off the bench. Considering Edwards is a high usage player, it makes sense for both Okonkwo and Wague to weigh their options in the portal.

According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Okonkwo has visits scheduled with North Carolina and Texas A&M

With Armando Bacot returning for yet another year and Jae'Lyn Withers transferring in from Louisville, it's hard to see much of a path for minutes in Chapel Hill for Okonkwo even though they are the presumed favorites.

Texas A&M, in my opinion, would be the more ideal landing spot for Okonkwo but they just picked up a commitment from UMass transfer Wildens Leveque, which appears to be their final scholarship spot.

With no clear No. 2 option at center currently on the roster, returning to West Virginia makes a ton of sense. That said, if I had to put a percentage on it, I'd lean in the direction of Okonkwo leaving WVU, say 55-45.
