We are to the point of the college basketball season where players are starting to hit the transfer portal, so the question is, how will John Calipari use the portal?

Last portal season the Wildcats only brought in Tre Mitchell, and they didn't add him until late because of some issues at West Virginia.

The problem with being in the NCAA Tournament is that Coach Calipari has to focus on the tournament rather than recruiting, and sometimes, when you do this, some of the top portal players will go ahead and decide where they are going to play.

Right now, there are some outstanding players in the portal, but Coach Calipari won't know what his team will look like until the season ends and the players have meetings with the coaches.

You still have to wait on players to decide if they are going to the NBA Draft or if they plan to enter the transfer portal. If a bunch of guys are going to leave or stay it will change how the staff will use the portal.

The Wildcats have six players coming to Lexington as a part of the 2024 recruiting class and could still add another name or two.

This makes it tough for Coach Calipari to make decisions on who to get in the portal because he has to see who is going to be on the roster next season from this year's team.

I predict the coaching staff to bring in a player or two from the portal, and every year, there are some excellent options to choose from.
