Isaac Lindsey, a guard transferring from the University of Wisconsin basketball team, has found a new destination in the transfer portal.

Lindsey, who spent three seasons with the Badgers, revealed on social media that he would be transferring to South Dakota State for his final season of eligibility. The Mineral Point graduate’s decision made him the first Wisconsin basketball transfer to announce a new team.

Joining the Jackrabbits, Lindsey reunites with former Wisconsin forward Matthew Mors, who transferred to South Dakota State after redshirting his freshman year with the Badgers.

Lindsey, a 6-foot-4 in-state guard from the 2020 recruiting class, initially began his collegiate journey as a scholarship player at UNLV. However, he never saw action with the Runnin’ Rebels.

Following his stint at UNLV, Lindsey transferred into the Wisconsin basketball program as a walk-on under head coach Greg Gard. Notably, Lindsey earned a scholarship for the 2022-23 season, where he played in a career-high 24 games and averaged 1.5 points and 0.8 rebounds in 5.9 minutes per night off the bench.

However, his role as a junior shrunk, and he was moved back into a walk-on spot. Linsey averaged just 3.8 minutes per game across 16 contests.

Throughout his career with the Wisconsin basketball team, Lindsey made appearances in 46 games. His contributions included averaging 0.6 points, 0.4 rebounds, and 0.2 assists per game.

Lindsey is one of six outgoing transfers for the Badgers this offseason, along with Connor Essegian, AJ Storr, Ross Candelino, Luke Haertle, and Gus Yalden. Wisconsin basketball still has the same number of open scholarships (two).

Wishing Lindsey all the best in his final season.
