WVU C Jesse Edwards has committed to play in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, otherwise known as the PIT, this month. This will be an opportunity for Edwards to play in front of professional scouts.

Edwards, who is set to begin a professional career, played in the Reese’s Division-I All-Star Game during the Final Four weekend in Phoenix, Az. The 6-foot-11 big man finished with eight points, nine rebounds and two blocks in 16 minutes.

Edwards spent his final college season at West Virginia after spending four years at Syracuse under Jim Boeheim. Edwards committed to WVU in April 2023 under Bob Huggins and decided to stay with interim HC Josh Eilert.

Jesse Edwards averaged 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks through 23 games with the Mountaineers. Edwards was sidelined for over a month with a fractured right wrist from mid-December to late-January.’

The Portsmouth Invitational is an annual event that includes 64 college seniors to play in tournament-style competition. The PIT is from April 17-20 in Portsmouth, VA.

The last two years, former WVU guards Taz Sherman and Erik Stevenson both played in the PIT, receiving multiple workouts with NBA teams at the beginning of their professional careers.
