Jay Wright not interested in 76ers job, staying at Villanova

When the Philadelphia 76ers fired coach Brett Brown on Aug. 24, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Villanova basketball coach Jay Wright, along with Los Angeles Clippers assistant and former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue, was a potential candidate for the Philadelphia gig.

While Wright admitted in an official statement that he's flattered and a lifelong Sixers fan, he also said that he's not going anywhere.

Back on Aug. 28, Gary Parrish of CBS Sports accurately predicated Wright would remain at Villanova despite interest from the 76ers. Wright took the program over in 2001, and he guided the Wildcats to national titles in 2016 and 2018.

Wright is the second big-name college coach to recently reject NBA opportunities. Michigan's Juwan Howard committed himself to the Wolverines the same day the 76ers parted ways with Brown.
