Baylor Bears head coach Kim Mulkey Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

Coach Kim Mulkey a game-day decision for No. 6 Baylor women's basketball return

The Baylor Lady Bears, ranked No. 6 in the country, haven't competed since going on a coronavirus-related pause on Jan. 5 but are expected to return to action for Saturday's home game against the Iowa State Cyclones.

As ESPN's Mechelle Voepel and the Associated Press (h/t Fox13 Memphis) reported, Baylor may be without head coach Kim Mulkey.

Mulkey missed her team's victory over the TCU Horned Frogs on Jan. 2 because she had been exposed to an infected family member and then tested positive for COVID-19 days later. She explained at that time that she hoped to rejoin the team on Jan. 15, but school officials have confirmed that her status for the Iowa State clash won't be revealed until Saturday.

Bill Brock served as interim Baylor head coach against TCU and would remain in that role if Mulkey can't attend the matchup against the Cyclones.

Iowa State, meanwhile, improved to 8-4 overall with a 90-80 win over the Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Wednesday. The Cyclones famously ended Baylor's 58-game Big 12 regular-season winning streak last March before seasons were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
