Dawn Staley broke out her Sunday best. For the national championship game, the South Carolina head coach donned a $5,370 Louis Vuitton jacket, according to Front Office Sports.

The sporty silver zip-up boasts two front pockets and a stylish collar. Look good, coach good. Staley’s Gamecocks hold a 49-46 lead at halftime over the Iowa Hawkeyes.

South Carolina has dominated the offensive glass thus far, hauling in three times as many offensive rebounds as the Hawkeyes in the first half. The Gamecocks didn’t allow their hard work to go to waste, notching 19 second-chance points in the half.

This isn’t the first time Staley has flaunted a pricy outfit for a big game. During South Carolina’s win over Indiana in the Sweet Sixteen, the Gamecocks head coach didn’t hesitate to flex what her hard work has earned her.

Staley rocked the “Hybrid Leather And Cotton Damier Blouson” from Louis Vuitton, which has a $3,150 price tag. It’s no problem for Staley, who earns $3.1 million per year, the second-most of any women’s basketball coach in the country.

Staley has earned every penny. Staley has now led South Carolina to eight SEC regular season championships, eight SEC tournament championships, 11 Sweet Sixteens, six Final Fours and three NCAA championship appearances.

Dawn Staley weighs in on transgender athletes in women’s sports

Staley’s fits aren’t the only things garnering headlines. On the eve of the national title game, Staley was asked about transgender athletes participating in women’s sports. Staley addressed the question head-on.

“Damn, you got deep on me, didn’t you?” Staley started. “I’m on the opinion of, if you’re a woman, you should play. If you consider yourself a woman and you want to play sports or vice versa, you should be able to play. That’s my opinion.”

Staley then asked if the person asking the question wanted her to “go deeper” into her answer. On a follow-up question on if she thinks transgender women should be able to participate, she acknowledged the point of the initial question and the timing of it.

If her timeline blows up, she said, that’s fine with her.

“That’s the question you want to ask,” Staley said. “I’ll give you that. Yes. Yes.

“So now the barnstormer people are going to flood my timeline and be a distraction to me on one of the biggest days of our game, and I’m okay with that. I really am.”
