DePaul All-American Aneesah Morrow commits to LSU

The rich only got richer on Friday.

DePaul forward Aneesah Morrow, who averaged 25.7 points and 12.2 rebounds per game for the Blue Demons last season, is transferring to LSU.

USC and South Carolina were the other finalists for the 2021-22 National Freshman of the Year, according to ESPN Women's Basketball Reporter Alexa Philippou.

"As a true competitor, I always dreamed of playing for a top-tier program," Morrow said in a Friday release. "LSU's rich history, support and passion for all sports teams caught my attention. The atmosphere on my official visit was electric, and the fan base is incredibly passionate about their team.

"I was drawn to this kind of environment because I've always dreamed about playing for a university that had that. Furthermore, the opportunity to play in the SEC against some of the nation's best teams."

Morrow, a former three-star recruit out of Simeon Career Academy in Chicago, Ill., played and started in 66 games for the Blue Demons. The 6-foot-1-inch forward averaged 21.9 points, 13.8 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game during her first season with DePaul, leading it to a 22-11 record and a statement win over Kentucky during the team's 2021-22 campaign.

A super team may be forming after LSU won the National Championship last season.

Morrow will join a Final Four Most Outstanding Player in forward Angel Reese and former Louisville scoring guard Hailey Van Lith, who announced her intent to transfer to the Tigers in April. LSU lost two players, forward LaDazhia Williams and guard Alexis Morris, to the WNBA Draft.

The former Simeon star's elite scoring, rebounding and ability to stretch the floor would make her the perfect frontcourt partner for the 6-foot-3-inch Reese and a roster that features 5-star guard Mikaylah Williams and a 2023 SEC Freshman of the Year in guard Flau'jae Johnson.
