The Indiana women’s basketball program received news on Friday morning that it would be moving forward for the near future without one of its key players.

Indiana women’s basketball head coach Teri Moren provided an update on injured guard Sydney Parrish, saying she would be ‘out indefinitely’ with a foot injury.

“She’s dealing with a foot injury. She’s out indefinitely, and her status is just going to be updated game-to-game,” Moren said. “She’s in great hands. We’ll try to get back as quickly, but as safely as we can. That’s where it’s at.”

Parrish injured her foot during practice last Friday and missed Indiana’s 74-68 win over Purdue last weekend.

Parrish has been a key cog to the Indiana women’s basketball success the past two years. This year, she is averaging 10.8 points per game, 5.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and is shooting 39.3 percent from three.

“Syd was playing great,” Moren added. “She was our second leadings scorer. She always provides us with a great dose of energy and hustle. We do miss that.”

Lexus Bargesser started in place of Parrish last week, going scoreless in 34 minutes. She added three rebounds and three assists. She will likely replace Parrish in the starting lineup moving forward as well. She is averaging 3.5 points and 2.1 rebounds per game this year.

Chloe Moore-McNeil stepped up in a big way as well last week, with a career-high 20 points and four assists in 40 minutes.

Indiana women’s basketball faces Northwestern on Sunday afternoon.
