After four years playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Caitlin Clark has become the hottest name in college basketball these days. To commemorate the greatness she has exhibited, ESPN is set to bestow a tribute similar to what Michael Jordan received in the 90s.
Before starting her college career with the Hawkeyes, Clark enjoyed a stellar high school run playing for Dowling Catholic. During her last year there, the guard posted averages of 33.4 points, eight rebounds, and four assists per game.
After committing to the Iowa Hawkeyes, Clark began her run as a collegiate player with impressive stats of 26.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per contest. She would also be named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and lead the NCAA in scoring.
Now in her final season for Iowa, Clark has elevated herself to become the hottest star in college basketball. Just recently, the Hawkeyes star eclipsed Pete Maravich’s record by posting the most points in college history. She is also averaging 31.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game in her last year as a senior.
ESPN Bestows Special Tribute Magazine to Iowa Hawkeyes Star Caitlin Clark
Thanks to all of her accomplishments, Clark has established herself as a proven brand in college basketball. Striking whilst the iron is hot, ESPN announced that they will release a tribute magazine for the Hawkeyes star.
“Caitlin Clark is a signature athlete of our time, and this issue offers the definitive account of her rise to superstardom, with unique insight and authority from ESPN’s amazing collection of journalists,” ESPN executive director Scott Burton said.
ESPN released these special print issues for athletes who have transcended the sport they were playing for at different points in time. Among those who have received this tribute are Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Serena Williams, Kobe Bryant, and John Madden.
With Clark declaring for the WNBA draft, her star is bound to get bigger in the coming years. But before that, fans can catch her as Iowa continues its journey to win the NCAA Tournament.
