Everyone in women’s basketball was surprised when Hailey Van Lith entered the transfer portal after a disappointing season with the LSU Tigers. After taking the backseat to allow Angel Reese to shine, she decided to take her talents to the TCU Horned Frogs.

The decision was a surprise for everyone as there were plenty of programs that wanted to get her in their lineup for the 2024-25 season. Nevertheless, TCU fans are excited that their team is getting a star to end their fifteen-year March Madness drought.

TCU Horned Frogs get massive boost as Hailey Van Lith commits for next season

The 5’7″ guard took her time two weeks after she entered the transfer portal to choose the right program that can help her improve her chances of getting drafted in the 2025 WNBA Draft. She wanted to make sure that the team she’ll join will trust her with the ball and take over the game is on the line.

The Spun’s Chris Rosvoglou shared the fans’ reactions to Van Lith joining the team. They were excited for the possibility of Van Lith teaming up with Haley Cavinder to boost the team. However, Cavinder decided to return to Miami and play out the final year of her eligibility with her twin sister.

While the Horned Frogs will be missing out on having an exciting duo lead the team to their first March Madness tournament in more than a decade, Haley Van Lith should be more than talented enough to help the team make themselves stand out in a crowded Big 12 conference.

Hailey Van Lith finished her 2023-24 campaign with a decent 11.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.3 steals on 37.8% shooting and 33.9% from three while supporting Angel Reese throughout the season. Her numbers as the number-one option displays a scarier stat line: her final year in Louisville saw her put up 19.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.5 steals. She shot for 41.1% and 29.3% from distance.

If the Horned Frogs get the 2022-23 version Van Lith, there’s no reason why they wouldn’t make the NCAA Tournament this time around.
