UConn Huskies guard Paige Bueckers David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

UConn women's basketball star Paige Bueckers out six to eight weeks with knee injury

The reigning AP Women's College Basketball Player of the Year is sidelined for a significant chunk of the 2021-2022 season.

Through six games this fall, Bueckers had been putting up some historic numbers.

The Huskies are 5-1 thus far, with their only loss coming on Nov. 22 against No. 1 South Carolina. UConn is currently No. 3 in the country, only behind the Gamecocks and No. 2 NC State Wolfpack.

Head coach Geno Auriemma's squad takes on Georgia Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
