Virginia Tech advances to first women's Final Four in school history

On the men's side of March Madness, three programs will be making their debuts in the final four: Florida Atlantic, San Diego State, and Miami. On the women's side, the top-seeded Virginia Tech Hokies will be making a major debut of their own.

After a 84-74 victory over No. 3 seed Ohio State on Monday Night, the Virginia Tech women will be going to their first Final Four in program history.

"We're not just going to the Final Four, we're in the Final Four," head coach Kenny Brooks said after the game. That's something that means the world to me. It's unbelievable, I'm so happy for this group."

The Hokies were led by senior center Elizabeth Kitley, who had one heck of a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Junior guard Georgia Amoore was right behind Kitley with 24 points of her own to go along with four rebounds and two assists.

Notably, there was a point in the game when Amoore had to be helped off the court and too the locker room after making hard impact with the Buckeyes' Eboni Walker.

Amoore came back a few minutes later, though, and had the game of a lifetime, which included this buzzer-beater:

Virginia Tech will now face No. 3 LSU in the Final Four. On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 Iowa will do battle with No. 1 South Carolina, the reigning champions who are still undefeated this season.
