The College Football Season is getting closer. With 18 days left until BYU kickoffs against South Florida let’s get to know some players on the roster for this upcoming season. This will give fans an idea of where these players have come from and what they could do for the cougars this season. I will do one every day there is a player with that number.

Gunner Romney

Today is Gunner Romney senior wide receiver 6-2 195 lbs. Starting in 2018 the Cougars played in nine games and started in four. 13 receptions for 192 yards and two touchdowns. In 2019 he played in all 13 games with only one start. Romney had 31 receptions for 377 yards and two touchdowns. 2020 he played and started in 10 games. He had 39 receptions for 767 yards and two touchdowns. Last year he played and started in 10 games for the Cougars. Romney had 34 receptions for 594 yards and three touchdowns. Romney has had some injuries that have prevented him from playing at a higher level healed and is ready for his last season. Is listed on the depth chart as a starter for this season.

Kaleb Hayes

Today is Kaleb Hayes senior defensive back 5-11 190 lbs. Transferred from Oregon State after the 2020 season. In 2021 he played in all 13 games one of the 26 on the team to do so and started in 10 of those games. 26 tackles, and lead the team with 12 pass breakups. Named to many awards last year. Had four pass breakups against USC, three against Utah St, and five tackles against Baylor. Hayes stepped up last year when our defensive backs were injured and played at a really high level. He is currently listed on the depth chart at number one as a starting cornerback.
