Navy's 2023 captains were defensive end Jacob Busic, wide receiver Jayden Umbarger offensive lineman Lirion Murtezi, and linebacker Will Harbour. This marked just the third time in program history that Navy had four team captains for a season. This also happened in 2019 and 2021.

2023 marked the Navy program's first season under head coach Brian Newberry. They finished 5-7 with a loss to archrival Army to end the season.

Navy are set to begin spring practices on March 5 with a practice open to the public inside Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on April 6.
