While LaQuan McGowan, Baylor’s 400-pound tight end, wants an NFL career, he realizes that it probably will not be a long one. He’s also thought about what to do after his football career is over.

Alex Kirshner of SB Nation quoted McGowan, saying that the WWE may be in his future.

“I’ve watched it on TV. I’ve thought about, ‘What would be something good or something that I would enjoy doing for a decent, for a long period of time?'” he said. “For big guys in the NFL, they really don’t last that long.”

According to Kirshner, McGowan has also talked to people within the wrestling industry who have given him an idea of what the steps towards a professional wresting career would be.

It’s actually a great to hear athletes talk so openly about their post-playing career. McGowan certainly seems as though he’s thought this through and, quite honestly, it’s not hard to imagine him doing well in the WWE.

McGowan certainly wouldn’t be headed into uncharted territory. Plenty of big men have made an impact on the WWE, as have former football players, most notably The Rock.

Unlike The Rock, though, McGowan doesn’t feel like he’s got a good nickname for his WWE career.

“I’ve been thinking, and I can’t come up with a nickname,” he said. “But I’ll get one. It’ll be the best nickname you’ve got out there, too.”

Maybe instead of The Rock, McGowan can get in touch with his career as a lineman and tight end and call himself “The Block.” Well, maybe not.

The nickname is a work in progress, but McGowan’s track record indicates that he could certainly be a successful professional wrestler.
