A new QB is rising up draft boards following Senior Bowl

The 2024 NFL Draft is rich with quarterback talent, and after the 2024 Senior Bowl that may be an understatement.

Several quarterbacks are already expected to be taken in the first or second round, including USC's Caleb Williams, UNC's Drake Maye, LSU's Jayden Daniels, Oregon's Bo Nix, Washington's Michael Penix Jr. and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy.

However, a new quarterback is now rising in the rankings following a strong performance in the Senior Bowl.

That player is South Carolina's Spencer Rattler. The 23-year-old was named the MVP of the game on Saturday after completing four-of-four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown.

"It means a lot. We put in a lot of hard work this week. It's not just for me, it's for the American squad. We fought our butts off today and had a great week with the guys," Rattler told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. "[This week's] been a blessing, being around great coaches, great people. Just creating relationships with these guys that I've known coming up and competing against."

Rattler currently ranks as Pro Football Focus' eighth-best quarterback and No. 101 overall prospect on its big board, but many believe he will continue rising up draft boards as the offseason progresses.

The Athletic's Dan Brugler said Rattler "could make the greatest jump during the draft process."

The South Carolina product was somewhat inconsistent throughout his collegiate career. The 2020 season was his best, when he threw for 3,031 yards, 28 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

But if he continues to shine at the NFL Combine at the end of February and at his Pro Day, he could certainly increase his draft stock even more.

For now, Rattler is only focused on getting better a few months away from the 2024 NFL Draft.

"I'm headed back home to train in Phoenix," Rattler finished. "Just taking it step by step. Keep working."
