Alabama HC Kalen DeBoer commends Nick Saban's guidance 

It's no longer Nick Saban's show at Alabama, but one would be foolish to deny that the man who brought the Crimson Tide six championships and won another at LSU would be a great resource.

The legendary coach promised that he would support his successor at Alabama, and now that we know who that coach is — former Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer — it sounds as if Saban has been holding up his end of that bargain.

DeBoer recently told "McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning" (h/t On3) that Saban is just a phone call away.

"He’s been great. I think there’s been one time he hasn’t picked up the phone, and about five minutes later he called me back. He’s just been amazing," DeBoer explained.

While Saban is undoubtedly the go-to guy for DeBoer, he's also apparently been a great resource for new Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack. 

DeBoer brought Wommack over from South Alabama, where he was head coach. Wommack was the defensive coordinator at Indiana when DeBoer was the offensive coordinator for the Hoosiers — so the two have history — but even a great working relationship can't replace the wisdom that could come from Saban, known as one of the best defensive football minds ever.

"I know Kane Wommack and the defensive staff are excited about having continued conversations just talking ball,” DeBoer said. “We have great coaches on our staff, but you can’t help but make sure you utilize that resource and coach Saban."
