An Alabama quarterback has confirmed his announcement to transfer after this season.

Tyler Buchner, a former Notre Dame quarterback, shared on social media he will transfer back to the Fighting Irish and play lacrosse after finishing the College Football Playoff with the Crimson Tide. Buchner played in two games for Alabama, including a start versus South Florida. He completed eight of 19 passes for 61 yards. He also totaled three carries for 20 yards and a touchdown.

Buchner was brought in during the summer to foster more competition in Alabama’s quarterback room.

Reports of him considering the transfer portal surfaced on social media, but now he has confirmed it.
