Alabama's Nick Saban sees positives in false coronavirus test

Alabama head coach Nick Saban tested positive for coronavirus last week but revealed Wednesday that he considers himself lucky after it was revealed the test actually was a false positive.

Saban tested positive for the virus on Oct. 14 and entered isolation. However, he was able to test out of COVID protocol in time to coach Alabama's 41-24 win over the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday after three consecutive days returning a negative test.

The 68-year-old said that being away from his team was challenging, but that it also gave him perspective, saying it's a lesson he can share with everyone else.

"Well, once they tell you you're positive, there's nothing you can do about it," Saban said, according to ESPN's Alex Scarborough. "I was fortunate it was a false positive. So I would encourage everybody out there to do everything they can to practice social distancing and wear a mask and manage their personal space so they don't have to ever hear the fact that you have this."

The Crimson Tide are the only remaining undefeated team in the SEC. They're set to face Tennessee on Saturday.

After an unprecedented week where Saban coached from the confines of his home via Zoom, his team will have a much better handle on the Volunteers this week as he'll coach practices in person in preparation for the game.
