Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims suffered a right hamstring injury while running the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Sunday.

According to Stacey Dales of NFL Network, Mims isn’t sure of the severity of the injury. Mims currently has ice on his hamstring but wants to continue testing and competing at the Combine.

Mims, at 6-foot-7 3/4 and 340 pounds, clocked an impressive unofficial time of 5.07 during the 40-yard dash. His freakish build was on display with 11 1/4″ hands, 36 and 1/8″ arms and an 86 and 3/4″ wingspan. He posted a 25 1/2″ vertical jump and a 9’3″ broad jump.

Amarius Mims could go Round 1 despite inexperience

Mims is a potential first-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. He is viewed as one of the best offensive tackle prospects along with Notre Dame’s Joe Alt, Penn State’s Olu Fashanu, Oregon State’s Taliese Fauga, Alabama’s JC Latham and Oklahoma’s Tyler Guyton.

A Preseason All-SEC first-team selection at right tackle, Mims played in seven games this past season for the Bulldogs. He suffered an ankle injury which required surgery in the conference opener against South Carolina and missed the next six games. He returned against Ole Miss but reinjured the ankle in the SEC Championship Game defeat to Alabama. Mims did not suit up in the 63-3 Orange Bowl victory over Florida State.

“I feel like Georgia is the best college institution in the country and I feel like they prepared me and the guys, my teammates here, more than anyone else here, honestly,” Mims said on Saturday, via DawgNation. “Just the hard coaching, the coaching staff we’ve got is the best coaching staff in the country. I strongly feel that’s true. They teach you how to grow up before your time and I had to do that real quick. I’m very thankful for that.”
