Arizona State had a season to forget in the last year of the Pac-12. They finished 2-7 in the conference and 3-9 overall. However, this morning they landed a talented quarterback out of the transfer portal. Former Michigan State quarterback Sam Leavitt has committed to Arizona State.
Arizona State Lands QB Sam Leavitt From Transfer Portal
Leavitt found himself looking for a new home after the Spartans decided to switch coaches. He is a former four-star prospect who was the 18th-ranked quarterback in his class. Head coach Kenny Dillingham is familiar with Leavitt as one of Leavitt’s first offers out of high school was from Florida State where Dillingham was the offensive coordinator at the time. The quarterback had this to say in a statement.
“What really pushed me to commit was Coach Dillingham and coach Arroyo and the time that they put into trying to sell themselves to me. I love the offense they run and their history with quarterbacks. They have been very successful. They care about players as individuals and truly want what’s best for them.”
Move To The Big 12
The Sun Devils, like so many Pac-12 teams, will move to the Big 12 next season. This gives a whole new set of opponents for this program. While there will be some familiar faces, games against Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and Kansas State will present new challenges. Dillingham is hoping that Leavitt can help the program impress in their debut.
Arizona State is hoping for a bounce-back season. 2024 will be a huge change as conference realignment changes the college football landscape.
