Arkansas fined $100,000 for fans storming field after win over Texas

The Arkansas Razorbacks surprised many in the college football community by handing the No. 15 Texas Longhorns a 40-21 defeat on Saturday night. As happens throughout the country following such upsets, Arkansas fans celebrated the occasion by storming the field after the clock expired.

Per Barrett Sallee of CBS Sports, the SEC announced Monday that it has fined Arkansas $100,000 for violating a rule that pertains to fans entering the competition area. Sallee added the official guideline states:

"Access to competition areas shall be limited to participating student-athletes, coaches, officials, support personnel and properly-credentialed individuals at all times. For the safety of participants and spectators alike, at no time before, during or after a contest shall spectators be permitted to enter the competition area. It is the responsibility of each member institution to implement procedures to ensure compliance with this policy."

Arkansas previously broke this rule following a victory over the LSU Tigers in 2014. A third offense would cost the Razorbacks $250,000 in fine money. Cash from fines goes to the SEC Post-Graduate Scholarship Fund.

According to The Associated Press (h/t ESPN), it was Arkansas' first win over Texas in Fayetteville since 1981.
