Auburn football has had at least 34 positive coronavirus tests

The Auburn Tigers football program has had at least 34 positive coronavirus test results since players and other personnel reported for voluntary workouts amid the pandemic.

According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), Auburn coach Gus Malzahn confirmed on Monday that 33 player tests and a single staff member returned positive results. Malzahn added that no players have tested positive over the past week.

Linebacker Chandler Wooten and defensive back Traivon Leonard are the only Auburn players, to date, who have opted out of the 2020 campaign because of the uncontrolled virus outbreak.

Auburn opens the season versus Kentucky on Sep. 26. The full SEC schedule will be released on Monday at 7 pm ET.
