Big Ten powerhouse featured more than any other program in ESPN's 'way-too-early' All-American team

The 2023 college football season ended rather rough for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Not only did they lose to their arch-rival, the Michigan Wolverines, for the third straight season, but they then went on to lose to Missouri in the Cotton Bowl. Adding insult to injury, the Wolverines won it all in the College Football Playoff.

Everyone loves a good comeback story, though, and according to Chris Low at ESPN, the Buckeyes appear to be in prime position to execute one in 2024.

Low released a ridiculously early All-America team for next season, and Ohio State was featured more than any other program. The Buckeyes checked in with four first-team players on this list, which put them ahead of both Georgia and Michigan — who have three each.

The players for OSU?

  • Running back TreVeyon Henderson
  • Offensive guard Donovan Jackson
  • Defensive tackle Tyleik Williams
  • Safety Caleb Downs

Downs is the big name here, and a few weeks ago he would have been slated as a potential All-American for Alabama. He decided to transfer when Nick Saban announced his retirement, though, and now the Buckeyes will be the beneficiaries of his play.

He led Alabama with 107 tackles last season as a freshman while also racking up two interceptions.
