Former Ohio State wide receiver Chris Olave sang wide receivers coach Brian Hartline's praises during an interview Saturday on NFL Live.

Reflecting on his time with the Buckeyes, Olave said Hartline was a crucial part of his development, both as a person and as a player.

"He's a huge part in what we do there, he teaches us on and off the field, Olave said. "He's already been in the NFL, so he's got experience."

Of course, getting to work with some of the best talent in the country at Ohio State was a great help as well, but Olave said Hartline's trust in them right from the start allowed each receiver more room to grow.

"It's a lot of talent in the room, but he lets us develop and run our route from day one," Olave said. "And just when we catch a ball or do something good, there's always something to work on."

During his time at Ohio State, Olave crossed paths with several future NFL receivers, including Garrett Wilson (New York Jets), Paris Campbell (New York Giants) and Terry McLaurin (Washington Commanders).

Olave said the culture Hartline created and the expectations he had for each of his wide receivers is what set the Buckeyes wide receivers apart from others in college football, and led to their similar success at the next level.

"He just set the standard high, Olave said. "We just took off with it and worked hard."

Olave will kick off his second season in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints in their regular-season opener against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, September 10.
