LSU has been clicking on all cylinders as we reach the end of the season, but there is still another level this program is capable of reaching. The Tigers have remained relatively healthy this season, battling a few bumps and bruises here and there, but this squad has done well from a health perspective.

Two players the Bayou Bengals have been without are sophomore wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and Ohio State transfer Sevyn Banks in the secondary. On Thursday, head coach Brian Kelly provided an injury report on two of his guys.

Here’s a look at what he had to say:

Brian Thomas Jr. - Wide Receiver

Thomas has been in concussion protocols after missing last weekend’s game against the Arkansas Razorbacks, but all signs point to the sophomore standout returning to the lineup this weekend against UAB.

On Thursday, Kelly added that Thomas practiced on Wednesday and Thursday, trending in the right direction to suit up on Saturday. An LSU passing game that struggled a week ago, to get one of their top youngsters back on the field would be a huge boost in the right direction.

Look for Thomas to be on the field on Saturday as the Tigers look to take down the UAB Blazers in their final home game in Death Valley this season.

Sevyn Banks - Cornerback

Banks went down with an extremely scary injury on the opening kickoff against the Auburn Tigers earlier this season. Battling a neck/spine injury, his football status this season has remained in question, but Kelly provided an update on the lockdown corner on Thursday.

"Sevyn's made really good progress," Kelly said at his radio show Thursday. "He had consultations with a spine specialist today. I do not have the results, but he was in great spirits. So I know he's getting close and he wants to play again.

"So I think we'll have some news to report on Sevyn [Banks] here in probably the next week."

Banks hasn’t seen the field much this season, playing only 14 snaps on the year, as he continues recovering from injury.
