The pairing of Chip Kelly with the Ohio State Buckeyes was a match made in Heaven, according to college football analyst Greg McElroy.

During an episode of "Always College Football with Greg McElroy," the former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback reflected on what Kelly's addition means for the Buckeyes. McElroy said Ohio State's bringing in Kelly cements their offseason as the best of any team in the nation.

"The fact that they were able, Ohio State, to go out and get Chip Kelly, and I think too, think about that roster," McElroy said. "Think about what they've built in the transfer portal...I think it is a tremendous, tremendous match, and it further adds to the point that Ohio State, there is not a team in college football that has had a better off-season than Ohio State."

UCLA was the Pac-12 Conference's leader in rushing yards for both of the last two years and has had a fair share of talent come through the program during Kelly's time with the Bruins. However, McElroy says these players are not quite on the same level as what the Buckeyes have at running back.

"Quinshon Judkins, TreVeyon Henderson, what more do you need," McElroy said. "I am really excited about seeing the blend with what (Ohio State head coach)  Ryan Day's already created in the offensive identity that's been installed, meshing that with an innovator as far as run schemes for Chip Kelly."

Ohio State fans will get their first glimpse of what Kelly has brought to the running attack during the 2024 Spring Game.

The annual scrimmage will be played on April 13 at Ohio Stadium.
