Clemson football up to 37 total coronavirus cases amid outbreak

A coronavirus outbreak continues to affect the Clemson football program as it prepares for a college football season that may not get underway on time if it happens at all.

Last Friday, reports emerged that 23 of 28 Clemson student-athletes who tested positive for COVID-19 were related to the football team.

As ESPN's Andrea Adelson wrote, Clemson football recorded an additional 14 positive tests this week, growing the program's total to 37.

Similar to the 23 Texas Tech football players and staff members who recorded positive tests, infected Clemson individuals must quarantine for at least 10 days. People exposed to those patients were asked to self-isolate for two weeks.

Like with Texas Tech, none of the Clemson cases have yet required hospitalization.

Morehouse College canceled all fall sports, including football, on Friday because of the uncontrolled virus outbreak.

While speaking on ESPN's "Get Up," SEC analyst Paul Finebaum cited sources and said there's a "very good" chance the pandemic causes the NCAA to delay the football season that is scheduled to begin in late August.
