There is plenty of concern about the safety of student-athletes as colleges around the nation try to get football back in time for this fall. The coronavirus pandemic isn’t going away, and many college football players are testing positive as the come back to campus this summer.
Former LSU star and current Cleveland Browns receiver Jarvis Landry, thinking about all this, posted a question on Twitter recently that bears some consideration.
Responding to this question, Clemson senior receiver Amari Rodgers gave a pointed response.
Really, there is no way to dispute this. Rodgers is 100 percent correct in identifying the only real reason to risk the lives and health of all these players, and it’s all about the Benjamins, baby — a ton of money at stake.
The Clemson football team is one of the programs that has been thrashed by the coronavirus. On Friday, news broke that a stunning 23 student-athletes on the Clemson football team have tested positive.
In total, 28 student-athletes at Clemson tested positive for COVID-19. And this is far from an isolated event.

It’s no wonder that Dr. Anthony Fauci doesn’t think football can even happen this year unless it’s done in some sort of “bubble” scenario.
