Clemson's Justyn Ross cleared to return from career-threatening issue

Clemson Tigers wide receiver Justyn Ross began March 2020 as a potential first-round pick for the 2021 NFL Draft but entered that summer ineligible to play due to a congenital fusion in his spine that was detected after he felt discomfort during the final spring practice that occurred before football programs around the country temporarily halted activities due to COVID-19.

Ross underwent surgery in June 2020 to address the issue he was born with and, per Andrea Adelson of ESPN, has been medically cleared to resume football activities after he sits out an additional week because of coronavirus-related health and safety protocols.

Ross confirmed the news via Instagram:

Ross recorded 66 receptions for 865 yards and eight touchdowns with Clemson during the 2019 season and was projected to be a top-10 selection in some mock drafts before he was sidelined indefinitely.
