A college football assistant coach is in trouble with the law as police arrested Idaho State assistant Davonte' Neal on a murder charge, according to Idaho State Journal.

Neal was charged with felony first-degree murder in Arizona, with authorities adding that Neal is facing one count of drive-by shooting, and one count of discharging a firearm at a structure.

The alleged incident took place on Nov. 11, 2017.

Idaho State plans to terminate his contract with the football program, as athletic director Pauline Thiros said she was "shocked" by the claim.

"I have been in constant contact with (ISU head coach Charlie Ragle) who has known Davonte’ for many years and never had any knowledge or suspicion of a possible crime of any kind," Thiros said in a statement.

"The news of Davonte' Neal’s arrest and charges in Arizona was a great shock. Going forward, we will cooperate in every way possible, safeguard our program and culture, support each other and our students, and allow the legal process to work. The news is devastating and we hope for a resolution for all involved.”

Neal originally committed to play for Notre Dame before transferring to Arizona, playing wide receiver and cornerback from 2014 to 2016.
