Colorado loses two-way star with tough schedule looming

The University of Colorado will be without one of their best players for three weeks due to injury, as the Buffaloes prepare for one of their toughest stretch of games on the schedule.

Skip Bayless reported during FS1's episode of "Undisputed" on Monday morning that cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter had suffered a lacerated liver during Colorado's game on Saturday against in-state rival Colorado State.

The injury came as a result of a controversial late hit by Rams defensive back Henry Blackburn on Hunter (who was playing wideout at the time) "after the play should've been over" and Blackburn "blasted" Hunter according to Bayless.

The FS1 talking head explained how Blackburn's hit resulted in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, but no ejection.

Fellow members of "Undisputed" Keyshawn Johnson and Michael Irvin said they thought the Colorado State senior should've been tossed from the game and suspended.

Hunter has been a huge part of head coach Deion Sanders' club's 3-0 start, as he leads the team in passes defended (two) and has added nine total tackles and one interception on defense. On offense, Hunter ranks second on the Buffaloes in yards per reception (13.3) and third in receptions (16) and receiving yards (213).

The sophomore's injury comes ahead of back-to-back huge games against ranked opponents, both of which Hunter is now set to miss.

No. 19 Colorado will travel to face No. 10 Oregon (3-0) at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. Coach Prime's team then returns home to face quarterback Caleb Williams and the fifth-ranked USC Trojans (3-0) on Sept. 30.
