Texas A&M quarterback departed the field during the second quarter of Saturday's game against Auburn after sustaining a lower body injury.

Weigman was struck low on a tackle when standing in the end zone during a play and was seen noticeably limping afterwards as he returned to the huddle. The contact appeared to affect the quarterback's left ankle area.

He was escorted to the Aggies' sideline by trainers and taken for further observation in the team's medical tent. ESPN reported that Weigman was heard shouting in pain as he was being examined, and he was ultimately taken to the locker room, still with a discernible limp.

Weigman was 8 of 14 passing with 70 yards and a 5.0 yard per pass average before the injury. Texas A&M had a 6-0 lead against Auburn at the time.

Reserve quarterback Max Johnson was seen warming up to take Weigman's place after the starter's injury. Johnson is a 65 percent passer with 103 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in limited action this season.

A transfer from LSU originally, Johnson has 4,504 career passing yards while completing 64 percent of his attempts with 40 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.
