Dan Lanning, Oregon have moved on from beating Colorado

It happened and while it was happening it must have been euphoric for fans of the Oregon Ducks.

They put a whooping in Deion Sanders' much-hyped Colorado team this past weekend, winning 42-6, but while it was a great win and it certainly pointed out the difference between a College Football Playoff hopeful like Oregon and a rebuilding squad like Colorado — head coach Dan Lanning is over it.

It happened, but it's over now. On to the next.

How did it feel to hand Coach Prime his first loss of the season?

Lanning is no longer even thinking about it.

“I’m not hung up on that,” said in a press conference (h/t On3). “If you’re really about substance, what you’re really hung-up on is what’s next. What’s next for our players. I’m glad that we got to put Oregon in the light that Oregon deserves to be in. It’s really not about anything else, other than our team. Getting our team ready to go play. Now, we’ve got to go get ready for the next one.

“We don’t need to be the team that’s reading the newspaper articles. We don’t need to be the team that’s following Twitter. We didn’t follow it this week, so we’re certainly not going to look at it next week. We have to, again, humble ourselves. Including myself, including our staff. Focus on what’s next.”

What's next for Oregon is a matchup against 1-3 Stanford, but Lanning is right to keep his team focused on winning week-by-week. After the Stanford game is a massive game at No. 7 Washington that will go a long way toward determining the ultimate winner of the Pac-12 and it will undoubtedly have massive CFP implications.

That makes the game against the Cardinal a massive "trap game" though, because even against a 1-3 squad, every bit of Oregon's focus will be needed to get out of Week 5 at 5-0.

Games against No. 16 Washington State, No. 10 Utah, No. 8 USC and No. 19 Oregon State also loom large on the Ducks' schedule, but there's no room for looking ahead — or looking behind — in college football.
