There will be another opening on Deion Sanders' staff at Colorado.

Buffaloes director of quality control Dennis Thurman will be hired as Hawaii's next defensive coordinator, according to multiple reports.

The 67-year-old Thurman joined Coach Prime's staff at Jackson State and was one of the few retained during the transition period to CU. He was one of the most experienced members of the Buffs staff with 35 years of experience within the coaching ranks, and a majority of that time in the NFL. Thurman was Sanders' position coach with the Baltimore Ravens during the final stop in his playing career.

Prime and the Buffs will have a tremendous void to fill with Thurman heading to Oahu. FAMU's former director of recruiting Devin Rispress will be heading to Boulder and might be able to help bridge the gap.

Colorado has lost seven staff members from last year, including both coordinators who moved on for advancement. Sean Lewis took the head coaching position at San Diego State. While Charles Kelly jumped on the opportunity for a similar position at Auburn, which is his Alma Mater.

Sanders hits an important stretch with less than a month before Signing Day on Feb. 7. The focus will shift to finalizing the roster before the start of spring practice. A few surprises are bound to happen with the transfer portal and possible flips.
