Ed Orgeron had $17.1M reasons to leave LSU: 'What time do you want me to leave and what door do you want me out of?'

Brian Kelly likely has a headache at LSU after the Tigers' heartbreaking last-second loss to Florida State in Week 1. The same probably can't be said for former head coach Ed Orgeron, who's sitting pretty on a pile of cash after his six years with the program.

It didn't end well — Orgeron was 11-11 in the two seasons after LSU's incredible National Championship run — but the former head coach recently relayed that he has no animosity toward the Tigers for letting him go.

It doesn't hurt that the breakup came gift-wrapped with a big bag of money, as he tells it.

“They said, ‘Coach, you’ve got $17.1M on your contract. We’re gonna give it to you,’” Orgeron said during a recent public appearance (h/t Sports Illustrated). “I said, ‘What time do you want me to leave and what door do you want me out of, brother?’”

Heck, if only every breakup came with just $1M, the world would be a better place.

Keep on keeping on, Coach O.
