Over the weekend, Michigan football sophomore defensive tackle Mason Graham returned from injury and made a notable splash along the Wolverines’ defensive line. Michigan was without Graham for its first two Big Ten games — against Rutgers and Nebraska — and while the defense did just fine, Graham’s presence was made clear against Minnesota en route to a 52-10 victory. According to Jim Harbaugh, his sophomore defender has been stirring up new buzz heading into Week 7.

Elite Michigan football sophomore stirring up a lot of buzz

Is you missed it, Mason Graham is a freak. Despite only having one functional hand — with the other covered in enough tape to form a club — the Michigan football star had an impressive game against Minnesota, helping his team to a massive 42-point road win.

“Well, it’s great to have Mason (Graham) back,” Jim Harbaugh said on Monday. “He was really chomping at the bit too. He didn’t really want to stay out the two games, and it happens sometimes, where the player who is able to play — he just missed it a lot. I especially noticed it with him, and he couldn’t wait to get back out there, and he played really good. He was one of the players in the game. And with the club, cool stuff. I think he’s becoming a lot of people’s favorite player. I had quite a few texts from different people and friends, and people that that know football. They were really impressed as well.”

Mason Graham is a freak

In high school, Mason Graham saw action along the offensive line — does this play a role in his ability as a defensive tackle for Michigan football?

“I would think so, for sure, I definitely do,” Harbaugh said. “I guess all that to say he’s a foot-ball-player. That’s about the best thing you can say about somebody, it’s the highest compliment you can give them.”

Over the offseason, Jim Harbaugh also said that Mason Graham was a “gift from the football gods,” and from the sound of it, it appears that the rest of the nation is also starting to take note.
