Police on Monday were searching for a former University of Virginia football player after he allegedly shot and killed three people and wounded two others late Sunday night.
An active manhunt was underway Monday morning for Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., according to several updates from the University of Virginia Police Department. Authorities released a photo of Jones and said he is considered armed and dangerous.
A shelter in place order was given for anyone on the UVA campus. UVA Police offered several updates on what witnesses say Jones was wearing and the vehicle he may have been driving in.
Jones was on Virginia’s football roster in 2018 but never played in a game, according to the school’s athletic department website. He is accused of shooting and killing three people and wounding two others. Eric Kolenich of the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that Virginia junior linebacker D’Sean Perry is one of the three people killed.
Perry played in Virginia’s loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday and recorded two tackles.
