The Oregon Ducks have been incorporating Polynesian culture into their program for several years now. From Oregon legends such as Halotin Ngata and Marcus Mariota to the new Ohana uniforms worn by the team in the past two seasons, the Ducks have embraced Polynesian culture.

It’s no surprise that five players on Oregon’s roster were named to the Polynesian player of the year award watch list. Defensive tackle Popo Aumavae, linebacker Noah Sewell, linebacker Mase Funa, defensive lineman Taki Taimani, and offensive lineman Malaesala Amuavae-Lalu were all named to the watch list for the Ducks.

Noah Sewell could be the favorite to take home the award, which will be announced in December. Sewell’s brother Penei won the award in 2019, and Marcus Mariota took it home in 2014.
