Florida State to honor late iconic head coach Bobby Bowden during season
The Florida State Seminoles and the college football world lost an icon and legend last month when former head coach Bobby Bowden died at the age of 91 shortly after it was learned he was suffering from pancreatic cancer.
On Wednesday, Florida State announced how it will honor the man who guided the program to a pair of national championships (1993, 1999) and 12 Atlantic Coast Conference titles during his 34 years with the university.
Bowden's logo that includes a depiction of the hat he wore on the sidelines and his "Bobby" signature will be painted on each 25-yard line opposite of the ACC logos on Bobby Bowden Field at Doak S. Campbell Stadium. A banner with that Bowden logo will be installed in the back of the south end zone.
Additionally, the bumpers found on the backs of player helmets will feature Bowden's signature. Polo shirts worn by coaches will include a Bowden patch on one sleeve.
Florida State opens the season with a home game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. ET.
