He inherited several talented defensive players, but Kalen DeBoer took time after Thursday’s scrimmage in Alabama’s spring practice to highlight a young inside linebacker who is ready to become a star.

Jeremiah Alexander, a former five-star, was a freak of nature at Thompson High School.

He came to the University of Alabama in 2022 as one of the most explosive pass rushers in the nation.

An in-state prospect, Alexander helped Coach Mark Freeman get the Warriors to a Class 7A state title as a senior in 2021.

He posted 93 total tackles, 29 stops for loss, 10 sacks, and 27 quarterback hurries.

The 6-foot-2, 249-pounder has two years in the Crimson Tide’s program, playing in 18 career games. He saw action in 14 games last season, assisting the Crimson Tide to a Southeastern Conference Championship. Alabama fans have been waiting for Alexander to break out, but his time has now come. He stood out in the eighth practice, making several plays in the scrimmage.

Coach DeBoer said ‘it is serious stuff’ when Alexander is on the field at linebacker.

“I love the way he flies around,” DeBoer said about Alexander. “He plays with a lot of passion, toughness, and physicality. He is fun to watch, and I’m glad he’s on my side.”

According to sources, Alexander is an ‘alpha’ who plays with bad intentions on defense.

He moved to inside linebacker and is now starting to thrive. Deontae Lawson and Jihaad Campbell are the starters at both inside ‘backer spots, but people need to keep their eyes on Alexander. He is next up to be a force in the Tide’s program.
