Patrick Mahomes II is pursuing his second Super Bowl title for the Kansas City Chiefs, but another Texan is going after his first National Football League Championship.

Jalen Hurts, a University of Alabama alum, has been through a lot. He is remembered by most for getting benched in the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship Game against Georgia, but Sunday will be his moment to change the narrative.

Hurts has performed well all season, leading the Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl in his second season as a starting quarterback. He set franchise records, became a finalist for two marquee awards, and took incredible strides to become a complete player. Hurts has carried leadership traits since his time with Crimson Tide. Mahomes is highly gifted, but a former Alabama linebacker is booking Hurts to win the Super Bowl and earn Most Valuable Player honors. Ryan Anderson, Hurts’ teammate in 2016, is all in on his guy. Anderson helped Hurts lead the Tide to a Southeastern Conference title in 2016.

Tim Williams, a former Alabama linebacker, agrees with Anderson.

It is going to be entertaining to watch the duel between Hurts and Mahomes.
