Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback JT Daniels is breaking into the coaching world.

Sources tell A to Z Sports that Daniels has landed a grad assistant position at the University of West Georgia.

Daniels, 24, has been idle since he medically retired from college football in December 2023.

His sudden retirement came after doctors suggested that he should step from the sport following multiple concussions.

Daniels, a California native, transferred from USC to Georgia ahead of the 2020 season. He went 7-0 as a starter for the Bulldogs and threw for 17 touchdowns.

He played an integral role in Georgia's 2020 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and was in the Heisman trophy talk at the start of the 2021 season.

But after injuries kept sidelining him, the Bulldogs turned to Stetson Bennett as their starter and Daniels left for West Virginia.

He spent 2022 with the Mountaineers and then transferred to Rice for his final year of eligibility.

Through six college football seasons, Daniels finished his career tossing for 9,390 total yards and 66 touchdowns.

Pursuing a coaching career was also in the back of Daniels' mind as he originally told reporters that was his plan following retirement, and now he will get that chance at West Georgia.

“I’m definitely excited to get into coaching, that’s for sure,” Daniels told ESPN's Pete Thamel on Dec. 1, 2023. “I loved playing. I always knew one day I’d coach. I didn’t think it would come this soon. But one day, I knew that’s what I going to be doing.”

Daniels will work under head coach Joel Taylor at West Georgia, who was hired by the Wolves back in December.
