Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Aaron Murray threw some shade at Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton this week while discussing UT's upcoming matchup with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Murray suggested that Tennessee would have a chance to beat Alabama if they had a quarterback not named Joe Milton.

"Why can't Tennessee make this a game?," said Murray. "And it goes to Joe Milton. That's plain and simple. It's Joe Milton. That's it. That is the difference in this game."

"If Tennessee had a capable quarterback, I think Tennessee could go and win this football game," added Milton. "Joe has been...inconsistent. Where I do think Joe can make an impact in this game, we saw a little bit of it last week, and kind of help the offense, is running the football. I think Joe's going to have to have one of those bloody games where he's in absolute pain afterwards because he took it down 8 to 10 times and gets 40 yards on the ground.

The offense has a whole has been inconsistent for the Vols this season. Milton, however, has shown in the past that he can operate Tennessee's offense at a high level. But he did that when Jalin Hyatt, Cedric Tillman, and Bru McCoy were on the field. Tennessee has capable wide receivers on the roster this season -- Ramel Keyton and Squirrel White are the most experienced and have performed well before for the Vols -- but the wide receiver play just hasn't been up to par with what we saw last season.

That doesn't mean, though, that it can't be. If Tennessee's wide receivers show some improvement this week and if Milton operates the offense quickly and efficiently, the Vols can put some points on the board in a hurry in Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

Giving up on Milton halfway through the season because of a less-than-stellar game against Texas A&M could prove to be a big mistake by Murray.
