Michigan has taken down Ohio State for two straight years on the way to winning a pair of Big Ten football championships and earning consecutive College Football Playoff appearances.

Now, former Wolverines star Braylon Edwards is using the opportunity to gloat, saying these last two years prove that Michigan has overtaken Ohio State.

“They’re a team that can’t beat Michigan,” Edwards said on Woodward Sports.

“Even in the first half they struggled to beat Michigan, they struggled in the trenches. Michigan and Jim Harbaugh have built this team in the trenches, lineman on the offensive side, two years in a row.

"They’ve won that award two years in a row. On the opposite side. You look at the defensive line, two years in a row, you’ve had studs, they destroy Ohio State and now this is where I say it’s over.

“It’s not just that Michigan is beating Ohio State. They’re having their way with Ohio State.

"It’s not even interesting in the second half, if you will anymore, especially the fourth quarter. The (Ohio State) kids seem like they’re just trying to get basically to the NFL.”

Edwards believes that recruits can see Ohio State is a program on the decline.

“Guess what? There’s shortening and shortening and shortening and shortening,” Edwards added.

“You got Paris Johnson, you got a couple of receivers this year. Ohio State is shortening and shortening. They used to have three DBs in the first round, a few linemen, you had a couple of Bosa brothers or Chase Young, you’re not having that anymore. That program is falling apart and recruits can see it.”

If recruits are losing interest in Ohio State, they have a funny way of showing it: the Buckeyes have finished in the top-five of the 247Sports recruiting rankings every cycle of this decade.

But these last two seasons have also been a warning sign for the program in Ryan Day's tenure: a third straight loss to Michigan and those already-louder voices of criticism could become too loud to ignore.
