Former NBA All-Star wishes he could play college football for Deion Sanders

University of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders remains the talk of the college football world entering mid-September.

The chatter surrounding Coach Prime has extended so far that it has one former NBA All-Star wishing he could go back to school and play for Sanders and the Buffaloes.

Sanders' squad is 2-0 and ranked 18th in the country ahead of their Saturday night showdown against in-state rival Colorado State.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer was hired as Colorado's leader over the winter yet has already been at the center of rumors that he could eventually bolt for an NFL gig.

Thomas last played during the 2021-22 NBA season, suiting up for 22 games across stints with three different teams, including 17 with the Charlotte Hornets. He averaged 8.4 points and 15.1 minutes per contest during the campaign with the Hornets, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers.

The 34-year-old Thomas didn't play during the 2022-23 season but hasn't retired yet and has said he's hoping to find a team for the upcoming campaign.

The 2011 NBA Draft's final pick's most prominent years came with the Boston Celtics and Sacramento Kings. Thomas made Second-Team All-Rookie in 2012 with the Kings and was an All-Star in back-to-back seasons with the Celtics from 2015-17.

In 550 career games, he has averages of 17.7 points, 4.8 assists and 2.4 rebounds per contest with a .434/.362/.872 shooting line.
